So, here we are, the last day of the Public Bills Committee doing their line-by-line scrutiny of the Nationality and Borders Bill. New clauses are done at the end. We hope the committee will receive these clauses for the Chagossian children of descent, their families, Hong Kong Service members, and their families, and BOC British Overseas Citizens.
I wish I could say I am 100% sure they will add these amendments, but we are not. It is the case that's sometimes governments recognize the wrongs and have a mindset to rectify them. For this government, we will just have to wait and see how this bill goes through its remaining processes.
However this turns out, we don't give up and keep our eye on the goal. Justice, Fairness, Equality & Equity. It is much better for a government to be on the right side of history, than not.
